Villa Levante

A hillside above the bay, untouched. Every project begins by reading what is already here.

The site was a fold of hillside above the eastern bay — dry-stone terraces, two carobs, and a path the fishermen still use. The brief was to keep all three.

The house sits in the fold rather than on it. Limestone bearing walls rise around three courtyards; the roof plane is held one metre clear of the hill, so the rooms watch the water without breaking the ridge line.

Nine rooms, one terrace, and the bay reclaimed — greener than we found it.
